Boot Sale 728x90

I am the first one to seek out a designer sale but lets face it, even some of the sales offered by the designers can still be quite pricey. I know I don’t write very much about purses but clearly, I carry them. Where would I keep my lipstick if I didn’t :-D . I change purses pretty much every other day. I once lost my drivers license for 2 weeks and then I switched back to a purse that I thought I’d searched in the first place, ironically on the day I was finally prepared to order a new one. This was not a deterrent for my chronic purse changing habits. Stalking purse sales is fun but let’s face it, even a designer purse on sale is more than a lot of the shoes that are on sale. Recently in one of my many online adventures into shopping, I stumbled onto a cool little purse site called Handbag Heaven. They have some really cute bags AND they are priced to where I can not only feed my shoe addiction but I can now feed my need for new purses to lose my things in. It’s so funny because I have certain items in each purse so that when I change, I always have a brush, a lip liner, a lip gloss and a chap stick for those days I just want to be plain jane. If you like having a variety of purses, I say check them out. They have some pretty interesting styles and dare I say it, they have some looks that I know are designer inspired but they don’t say that, they never mention anything of the sort. Since most really great looking designer styles end up being trickled down for the mainstream I say add these great looks to your closet.

I am a firm believer in giving back, I do what I can wherever I can to add value to my community. If I can find a way to give something back then that is exactly what I do. If I can get something in return, that also makes me happy, but the primary goal is not to gain but to give. Recently, I had the pleasure of meeting Elena Minton, the owner of a cute shop in downtown St. Petersburg, Florida (not St. Pete Beach, you’ll understand that after you watch the video) called Talk of the Town and she is sponsoring a purse drive for a group called CASA. CASA has a mission of creating a community without violence. The purses will help those that are affected by domestic violence.

The purse drive will take place on Wednesday, March 10, 2010 at 6:30p.m. where she will have appetizers, wine and a couple of beauty consultants on hand to teach us all a few things. For bringing your lightly used purses, Talk of the Town will give you a coupon for $5 off of your purchase that evening. This may not seem like a lot to you but when you think of the overall big picture, this is plenty. For such a worthy cause, I say, pay full price and let Elena donate the additional $5 to help those trying to get a fresh start. I hope you can attend and if you are out of the area, CASA has a way for you to still help. I am certain there are worthy causes in your area where you can shop and help at the same time. Happy shopping!

The next time you go shopping, pay attention.  You’ll hear the squeal factor at work.   What is the squeal factor?  It’s that sound you make that only makes sense to you when you see something that creates a good feeling.  You’ve heard it, you’ve done it.  If you saw something wonderful and you said “mmm” “Oooh” “Ahhh” or “oooo” and any variation of the aforementioned, then your squeal factor was at work.

Funny thing is, this seems to really only affect women.  Wait, that’s not true, even little girls have a squeal factor.  Listen the next time you’re out and passing the toy section, you’ll hear that sound that will eventually grow to include not only toys but shoes, purses & killer clothing.  I rate my squeal factor on a scale of 1 to infinity!  I have been known to make sales people come running…even when I’m alone, because they just KNOW they’re about to make a sale.  There is nothing inconspicuous about that sound and everyone around you knows what it means even though technically, you never really utter a word.   If you see a group of young girls shopping together, you can hear it all through the mall, it’s annoying and like any other super power, it must be controlled.  As we grow older, we tend to tone it down but occasionally we’ll see something we just love and then it’s a full throttle squeal factor 5 and you too will have sales people coming out of the woodwork.  After you buy whatever that item was that sent the “squeal factor” beam into the air like Gotham City summoning Batman, share your pics so the rest of us can “ooo” and “aaahh”.

I love shoes!  I think I profess that every time I write a blog post.  I love fashion and looking good.  I want to think that each time I share with you, I have something of value to add.  Well, believe it or not, there are times (more often than not) that I have no idea what to write.  I have tried to write about designers, new trends and shoes that I think you might enjoy reading about.  I’ve decided to apologize for that.  Why you ask?  While I love my subject matter, I am not writing from my heart and that keeps me from updating frequently.

I am the single mother of 2, I run a business (unrelated to shoes & fashion) and I have a part time job.  This does not always leave a lot of room to find something “new” to share.  I own well over 200 pairs of shoes, I have a passion or maybe it’s an obsession with shoes.  I can talk about shoes but I must confess, not all of my shoes are designer shoes.  I tell people, I will buy shoes from anywhere at any price point.  I have flip flops that I paid a $1 for as well as a few pricey pairs of shoes.  I am the same way about clothes & purses.  It is my goal from this moment forward to write from my heart, to share my shoes & my passion for my own brand of fashion (which is NOT about what the celebrities are wearing)  and along the way, hopefully offer you some information that you may find helpful as well.

I wish you much success and I hope that this blog will become a little more interesting.  All the best.
