I love a good conversation starter shoe.  A shoe where you just enter the room & people make comments about it, ask you where you got them or who designed them.  The best is when a man tells you how sexy a shoe is.  Well, I think that Alejandro Ingelmo has a combination of the 3 elements of a conversation starter shoe in his collection.

I know many designers do but in my opinion, some designers make an average looking shoe but because they have a “signature style” they are automatic conversation starters.  Check out these styles by Alejandro Ingelmo & tell me which pair would have you asking about them and why.  I’ll share what would make me approach you & start a conversation.

You look at this shoe & at first glance you figure, neutral platform but the gold heel & platform make this one worthy of at least a comment about its sex appeal.

Come on, do I really have to tell you that this shoe would draw me all the way across a crowded room just to look at them? lol This mirrored gold with all the details would have me considering mugging the woman lucky enough to have these beauties on her feet. :-) Seriously, this shoe is interesting as well as mad sexy.
Ok, I’ll be honest, this one might not make it into my closet but there is no denying that its interesting. It brings to mind the Sydney Opera house but I cannot say that they are not conversation starters.

What’s not to love about this wedge? Sky high, some patent leather, some shine. Yeah, loving this one, it would be perfect for Wedge Wednesday. What are your thoughts?

Admit it, that shoe makes you think of this.

As the weekend approaches, all kinds of great sales are starting.  Heels has a new brand that they have just taken on and they are squeal worthy for sure!  Its called Shoe Republic LA and if you use coupon code BETATEST when you check out, you will save an additional 20%.

Woven - Purple

In my opinion, the best time to buy warm weather shoes is when its cold out.  The retailers need to clear them out so they can have room for warmer shoes not to mention that many of the summer shoes are from last season but will still look great next season, so grab them while you can.  Sleek sandals are on sale so check out Marc Jacobs, Guess & many more sandals that can bolster your closet & reduce the inventory over at Endless.

While you’re over there, be sure to check out Stylescape Friday.  A one day deal will be presented, so don’t miss out!

I know, I know, many of you still want to get shoes & boots that will keep your tootsies nice & warm (who wants cold feet?)  Save 30% and get free shipping on cold weather styles over at Nine West.

I don’t know about you, but I think Jessica Simpson offers some of the most comfortable heels ever! If you feel the same way then you won’t want to miss out on getting her styles for up to 75% off!  Don’t sit on this one, its for today only!

Almost every Wednesday, I post wedges.  I have declared it Wedge Wednesday.  Why you ask?  Why not?  Heels are fun, they are sexy and after a while, they need a break & so do your feet.  Wearing wedges gives you the lift but also provides a bit more support.  Who said wedges aren’t sexy?  Are you kidding me?  Not only are they sexy but the colors & various designs make me happy.  Check these out and if you still think wedges can’t be sexy, well then we’ll just relegate you to the flip flop section :-)

Giving an entirely new meaning to BINGO! These strappy wedges by Fergie are welcomed in my closet. That heel is almost 6″, baby if that’s not bringing you to new heights, I don’t know what will! On sale….even better! They are 15% off

Carlos Santana is making music with this pair. Loving the cork heel, in my opinion because cork has that springy feel, this equals added comfort. The heel is 4.5″ and these can be worn with a multitude of things because the colors are neutral.

Zeppa - Ballet Slipper
I always tease & tell people that I can run a marathon in shoes by Jessica Simpson. I have yet to put on a pair of pumps or wedges that are not comfy. Its like she used my foot as her mold. This cutie pie is pretty in pink & believe it or not, what really caught my eye is the little cutout of color on the back. Its got a 5 3/4″ heel but the platform is 2″. See? Built in comfort.

So these are my 3 list toppers for this week but here are a few others for you to consider

Fergie Marquee $119.99

Fergie Bonita Too $99.99

Fergie Bonita $119.99

Marcos - Bermuda Pink
Jessica Simpson Marcos $114.99

Helena - Cognac Leather
Joe’s Jeans Helena $244.99 (New Arrival)

Ophelia Wedge - Red
Ed Hardy Ophelia $69.99 (love this color!)

High heels help make your legs more shapely

Well the new year has arrived and with that comes tons of resolutions to lose weight.  I say to heck with that, buy high heels.

Nothing has man invented yet that will do a better job than heels at making a good pair of legs look great, or great ones look fabulous.”
— Stuart Weitzman

We all know that putting on those heels make the calf muscle stand out, pushes the caboose up to where it should be and makes you walk a little taller which helps you look slimmer.  To heck with making resolutions that you may not keep but who can resist a great pair of heels.

Check out these beauties (want more info, click the shoe)

If you have not yet discovered it yet, I’m here to tell you all about it.  It is Pinterest.  It’s a bunch of bulletin boards where you pin your interests.  You can find others & repin what they’ve pinned to their boards or you can like their items.  There is a place to make comments & depending on their settings, you can even pin things to their boards that you think they would like or are relevant to the theme of the board.    There are some really cool things & people out there.

I have a few boards that are fashion related, for example:  http://pinterest.com/bagsnshoes2/shoe-a-holics-support-group/  This is where I post shoes I find all over the web & of course, I repin some of the people I am following & who are following me.

Its not just about pinning pictures, you can also pin videos.  You all know I love my shoes, well I can’t neglect my toes no matter what time of year it is.  So I have a “How to Beauty” board & it has lots of videos of different nail art that I usually will try on my tootsies.  http://pinterest.com/bagsnshoes2/how-to-beauty/

I also have a place where I post clothing items I like.  I know I don”t talk about clothes very often but I do wear them I promise lol  http://pinterest.com/bagsnshoes2/my-style/

I’m in love with all my boards, afterall, I did make them.  So I have things that make me smile http://pinterest.com/bagsnshoes2/smile-inducers/ and music I enjoy http://pinterest.com/bagsnshoes2/music-that-i-enjoy/.  You can create any type of board you’d like.  It gives my followers another side of my personality.  Anyway, I hope you will sign on & if you do, follow any of my boards that appeal to you….or don’t but I have a feeling I’ll see you on the Shoe-a-holics board ;-)

Enjoy!

Put a group of men & women together and just mention shoes.  Women will have all sorts of stories about favorite shoes, shoes that hurt, how many pairs & how many colors.  Men will look at us, shake their heads and say I don’t get it.

This love affair starts early, I was walking through Target the other day & it hit me.  The cutest pair of teeny weeny leopard print baby girl shoes.  So I decided to stand there just looking at the different styles of baby girl shoes (hadn’t had a reason to look at these in a very long while, my “baby girl” is 21 and a bonafide shoe addict like her mother).  I saw plenty of colors, textures & styles.  I was in love all over again.

Then I ventured over to the baby boy shoes.  Brown, black, little gym shoes & little brown and black boots.  Paltry when compared to what the little girls got to pick from.  I recently took my manchild shopping for his homecoming, his choices slip ons or lace ups.  When I took my daughter some time ago, her choices were D’orsay, slingbacks, mules, peep toes, closed toed pumps, platforms, booties…..need I say more?

I decided to share my findings because they are just too dang cute not to & perhaps it will give you a little more insight as to just how early this love affair gets started with pretty things that adorn our feet.

With so few selections, no wonder the poor fellas can’t relate, there were more but they were all basically brown & black…..that’s no fun!  So with so many pretty shoes to choose from as a little one, the selection only grows as we grow.  Sorry guys that you don’t get to experience the shoe high that us girls wisk through our days with.

As the weather cools off, many of you will start to experience the change of color in the leaves, snowfall & freezing temperatures.  Here’s where I get to brag a little, it’ll get down in the 60′s the sun will shine most days & at night we’ll actually get to wear our boots.  More for fashion than the warmth of our little tootsies though.  Ah, the perks of living in the Sunshine State :-)

However, it does not matter where you live, we all get to benefit from the sales that happen because of the changing seasons.  Nothing is more fun than buying sandals that were over $100 for next to nothing because the store needs to get rid of it to make room for their new stock.  I will be the first to tell you that I never look at a persons feet & think “Those shoes are from last summer”.  Honey if she is strutting her stuff in them and looking fabulous AND she got them for a steal, I’m more like “Alright now!”

I found these squeal worthy sandals for a steal.  Do they make you squeal with happiness?

Every week there are great sales all over the internet.  Many of them will send you email notifications of these sales.  However, many of the places to shop now are nothing but virtual sale racks & there is always something great going on.  For example, The Fashion Vault is basically an outlet mall on Ebay.  There is a new sale every week, they usually start on Monday mornings at 9 a.m. PST and end on Friday evenings at 9 p.m. PST

The great thing about these sales is that while much of what is on Ebay has the potential to be used, these items are always new and usually from a retailer that has overstock.  Their overage is our gain.  If you are looking to get some cutting edge fashion, this week they are also featuring Romeo & Juliet for up to 75% off.  If you have not ventured over to The Fashion Vault, sneak a peek.

I don’t care what you say, when a woman puts on a perfect pair of high heels, she is instantly tranformed. She exudes confidence, sex appeal & becomes more regal as she enters the room. I often also enter the room with what I feel are bragging rights lol Why?  Well because I do my absolute best to never pay full value for anything fashion related. I enjoy sharing with others how much I saved & then hearing them say “Wow!  How did you find that deal?” I have no qualms about thrifting (some of my best designer clothing items came from thrift stores and still had tags on them). I surely have no issues stalking sales. Well, I never really thought much about shopping on Ebay.com for my designer goods. Partly because I felt it was just too difficult to really figure out what was authentic & what was not. There are a lot of unsavory characters out there that will photograph an authentic item, tell you its 100% and then when you get it, you find out its not the real deal. At least that was my train of thought. I didn’t want to go through the process of having to read all of this feedback & figure out whether or not it was a good value, so on & so forth. Well, they must have heard my cries (yep, little ol’ me, no one else) ;-)

I discovered that many of the large retailers have outlets here. This makes me squeal with happiness because when I buy from these outlets, I KNOW I’m getting the real deal and at a steal. You can’t beat that with a stick! I may still be on hiatus but that does not mean that I can’t tell you where to get some awesome deals. Just make sure you come back & tell me how much I saved you and post your great finds to the fan page.

So back in April, I put my house on the market & decided to go on a shoe buying hiatus.  Other than my 2 children, my shoe habit was my biggest expense so I decided that if I were going to have any money saved up for my inevitable move, I needed to be wise & frugal.   Well, little did I know how deep seated this luxury was for me.  As explored in the upcoming documentary God Save My Shoes, for me, it was more carnal.

At the beginning of each year, most people set resolutions for weight loss, I set resolutions for designers I’d like to add to my closet on a dime & set shoe quotas (I was supposed to acquire 4 pair per month this year) but life said,”No sweetheart” like so many others who fell down on their New Years Resolutions, I fell into this sad statistic.

What I was not prepared for when I decided to dedicate myself to this hiatus was the mental fallout that would follow.  The first thing I learned was I had a hard time going into the shoe stores, partly because when I would go, the sales people would literally welcome me back.  They knew my size & what my tastes were.  Its hard to go into a store & have them hand you exactly what you know you would buy & to add insult to injury, they also knew that if it wasn’t on sale, it wasn’t for me so every shoe they’d set aside was on sale.  UGH!  Talk about tough to walk away!

The next place it hurt was my blog, after looking online at my favorite retailers & seeing shoes that l know I would have whipped out my debit card for months before come & go without a hint of my UPS man, really hurt.  I did a series on my fan page of shoes that retailed for over $150 but were on sale for less than $50.  Again, more mental pain & strain.  So, the next thing to suffer was my blog.  I basically went on autopost so that I wouldn’t have to look at the shoes that were out there at remarkably low prices.

Liane from Sample Sale Sites & Kellie from Sexy Bags & Shoes

Finally, I became complacent with my fan page.  I asked my daughter & a friend to help me post shoes.  Partly because I really got busy with my “day job” but also because the longer this hiatus drags on, the harder it became for me to even enjoy or feel inspired to share.  Well, a few things have happened recently to reinvigorate me.  One, my friends have obviously seen what a toll this whole hiatus is having on me & they have gifted me some wonderful shoes.  (You’ll get to see those below) and we had Fashion Week here in Tampa & my friend Liane from Sample Sale Sites invited me to a blogger conference that featured fashion & foodie bloggers.  These bloggers gave me some insight & offered a bigger vision than my shoe buying habits.  So I say a big thank you to those bloggers & to my friends who knew I needed a kick in the pants & a fabulous pair of shoes that were new to me even if they weren’t new.

So as you can see, either my friends got tired of my whining & wanted me to hush about not buying shoes or they like me!  They really like me  :-)

Thanks to you guys for looking out for me & my mental health  :-D  The gifts of the shoes & the invitation to the blogging conference has lit a new fire underneath me.
